Another Sunday finds me in front of the computer, trying to remember what in the heck we did last week. Does that mean I'm getting old? (Justin, don't answer that. I already know what you think).
Oh, right. I survived another week in the Project Writeway contest (not too much surprise there, since I had immunity after winning last week). But--sound trumpet fanfare here--I won this week too! You can read my entry here. I think that officially takes my share of good luck for the contest, so don't expect to hear any more winning announcements.
On Wednesday, I got to take Evelyn with me to help out with the 3rd grade spelling bee at a local elementary school as a favor to a friend. Evelyn was surprisingly good the whole time: she stayed in her seat and watched Aladdin on the portable DVD player. The whole thing was actually kind of fun, since I didn't have the agony of trying to spell the words myself. As a plus, I got two free kids meals for Chilis, which solved the problem of dinner that night, since Dan was eating out with a candidate at school. (I refuse to pay $4.50 for a bowl of Kraft macaroni and cheese--but I don't mind it free.)
Andrew survived another week of wrestling practices and persists in thinking he's "good at this" (we'll see when we actually take him to a tournament. That might happen next Saturday, so stay tuned.)
Yesterday, the weather forecast predicted a high of 51 or so, and I started planning all these fun outdoor activities. I forgot, though, where we lived. We live in possibly one of the windiest cities in the state. So, even though the sun was shining and it was theoretically warm, it didn't exactly feel warm when we took the kids to the park. So much for my outdoor activities. Instead, we took the kids swimming at the Aquatic center, which seemed to be an acceptable substitution for all concerned, even if it meant I had to put on a swim suit. (Seriously, why can't they make a swim dress that comes down to my ankles? I might not mind wearing that).
