Sometimes I love the leisurely pace of summer . . . and sometimes it drives me crazy (esp. when my high energy children claim to be B-O-R-E-D). Thank goodness for friends! We spent lots of time with friends this week: at the park, at the swimming pool, at each others' houses. It's a little tricky because none of the kids good friends live within walking distance, but most of them come in pairs (that is, lots of friends with sibling pairs Andrew and Evelyn's age).
The bulk of our week was divided between playing and doing chores/hanging out at home. We're still trying to find our perfect summer balance with all that.
But the highlight of the week was definitely the weekend: yesterday morning, we got to see my niece Brielle baptized by her dad, and afterward we got to hang out with cousins for a while. Then we drove up to downtown SLC where Sarah and family and Bubby and Poppy were having a brief vacation at the Little America. We swam in the pool and had fabulously decadent deserts in a restaurant on site (mine was a chocolate ganache cake that was too much for me--and I LOVE chocolate. It took about five of us to finish it). The cheddabuddabrownie was popular (Oliver ate most of Dan's and then Lydia finished it off), as was the rhubarb crumble. And for some reason all the little girls wanted angel food cake with strawberries.
We took trax down to the City Creek Center, which I hadn't seen before, to have lunch in the food court and play in the dinosaur play area before coming back home. (Which was much less fun than the whirlwind visit).
This week: swim lessons and swim team start. We'll keep you posted.
